As of the fourth quarter of 2019, the U.S. economy was in its 24th consecutive quarter of positive GDP growth. Over the past nine years, commercial real estate markets in particular have experienced unprecedented gains, with average urban Class A rents increasing from $38 to $53 per square foot, or by 38.7 percent. In some markets, like Boston, Nashville and San Francisco, rental rates have never been higher thanks to rapid urbanization and rising tenant demand.
